Can new LDP brass find path back to public's good graces?
Sadakazu Tanigaki has become the 24th president of the Liberal Democratic Party, shouldering the task of reviving the party after its historic and crushing defeat in August's lower house election. The 64-year-old is to take the lead in reviewing the party's basic policies and pulling it out of its old ways of working. It is hoped that he will present a clear new banner aimed at recapturing power, turning the party's adversity into a source of strength for its revitalization.
