TOKYO (Dow Jones)--Honda will recall 437,763 vehicles due to a defect in the airbag system installed in the Accord, Civic and other models sold in the U.S. Japan and other regions.

TOKYO (Nikkei)--Toyota on Wednesday began the domestic recall of the faulty braking systems of its latest-generation Prius hybrid.

TOKYO (Kyodo)--Tokyo stocks rose Wednesday morning, with the key Nikkei index recovering to above the 10,000 line, as sovereign debt concerns in Europe eased on hopes of a rescue plan and a weaker yen in the currency market lifted Japanese exporters.
